Books not Bombs

So I watched a documentary about the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan and it got me pretty fired up the other day.  Not to mention some Macallen 12 year single malt that helped get the blood pumping.  As Americans we have so much, the biggest being the freedoms most of us take for granted.  Being able to openly disagree with your government is not allowed in many parts of the world.  Just protesting peacefully can get you killed by the government.  Ask the families of the 800 plus people killed in Syria the last  couple months alone.  It is disgusting to me, but there isn’t much we can do which is extremely troubling.

Why should it matter to you??  If you want to stay an uneducated idiot it doesn’t.  Stop reading this and go back to looking for lint in your belly button.  We need to promote education for everyone in order to achieve peace.   I was all for killing Saddam Hussein, but we underestimated just how crazy the extremist would be.    It isn’t going to end, there will soon be problems in Iran, North Korea, or some other country with leaders that have bad intentions.

Maybe we should drop books instead of bombs.  You know start out with some easy reading Dr. Suess and try to get the next generation literate so that they will understand what America really stands for.  People like Hitler can not be fixed, they must be killed, just like Bin Laden.  Collateral damage isn’t acceptable though and just blowing up some houses isn’t actually solving the problem.  It is a quick fix that handles one or two guys.  Ten more are waiting to take their place. Why can’t we all sit down and have a conversation??  They treat women as second class citizens, and want us to leave them alone to do it.  What say you??  Do we leave them to do whatever they want??  Let’s drill our own oil and just get the hell out of that part of the world.   Oh wait they have nuclear weapons.

Suicide bombers??  No one with an education would waste their life in such a horrible way.  At least I will choose to believe that.   By killing the parents of these kids and then leaving them to grow up hating us is asking for trouble.  We need to make sure we kill them all.  Oh that got a couple of you.  Of course I don’t want to kill little kids.   I think we just smack them around some.  ha ha what did you think I went soft on you??

Ok back to serious land in America there are public libraries everywhere, but no one goes to them because we are lazy physically and mentally.  Your choice, but at least you get to make it.  In Afghanistan the Taliban burned books and would not allow women to be literate.  Still think your life is over because your hairdresser screwed your highlights up??  We should be building libraries & schools in every town over there.  Just take the money we spend on the bombs and build a school.  I know crazy thinking huh???

Drop books not bombs.  Strangely enough I like it.
