Perfect

What is up?? Let’s get right into today. Being the best. I strive for it in everything I do. I’ve had many people tell me that I’m the type of person that is good at everything I do. Maybe not riding motorcycles, but we can all agree that day sucked. I do however take pride in my work, my play, my ability to think, and all the other things that come about in my life. I believe everyone should think this way. They should take pride in their work, their marriage, their kids, their home, and their body. Ahhh you knew I was going to get there.

I’m on this health kick if you haven’t noticed. My perfection can become a downfall and I have to take notice before it starts to chip away at the progress I have made. I have this tick in my brain that wants all of my activities to be the absolute best every single time, but that has created a mountain that can’t always be climbed. In fact it stops me from even putting on my climbing shoes. I somehow decide if I can’t do it perfectly, I should just not do it. Sounds kinda stupid once I type it out.

I want the weight loss. I want the energy. I want to feel good about myself. I think about working out, but then I have thoughts like I’m tired, I’m not feeling that awesome, I’m this/I’m that, or I’m just being a pansy. If I can’t do my workout like a beast then I should just wait until I feel better. That is quitter mentality. The truth is right there in front of me, but I’m not wanting to see it. This week has been a hard one, but I pushed thru and learned a very important lesson.

Who cares. Who cares if I’m not 100% into the workout every single day. What matters is I complete it. Maybe it takes an extra 22 minutes. Maybe I have to take an extra break here and there. The importance is that I simply DO IT. The mental win is better than “killing it”. My heart fills up with self pride every time I finish no matter how much time it took or how I looked doing it. I know I took another step up that mountain and nobody can stop me from completing the climb. Nobody, but myself that is.

We’ve all heard the slogans. Just do it. Never give up. Keep trying. Blah blah blah. It is all crap if you don’t put your shoes on. If those slogans worked every American would be in shape right now. It is hard to do what I’m currently doing. Way harder than I originally thought, but I don’t care how difficult it is. I’m going to succeed. I weighed myself today and I’m down 8 lbs in a month. I wish it was more, but that will come.

Perfection is the goal, but I had to learn that the path leading to it is filled with imperfections. That is a very deep sentence so instead of telling you to read it again, I’m going to type it out again.

Perfection is the goal, but I had to learn that the path leading to it is filled with imperfections.

Americans

Most of us that read this blog are Americans. I have readers all over the world actually and I love everyone of you. I listened to someone talking about everyone coming together after the failed Trump assassination who repeatedly said that America is the greatest country in the world. It made me wonder if people in Moldova are like “We are the 47th greatest country in the world!!” Some guy in Uzbekistan screaming to a crowd “When I was elected we were the 107th greatest country in the world and now we are 102!!! Suck it TrapZisteianistan!!!” I would literally fly there and pay to watch that.

Jokes aside. I have friends of all flavors. We argue at times. We disagree about some things. Not my fault though. Some of them still think women should vote. I know right. What can you do. We can laugh in America. We have the freedom to do so because brave, VERY BRAVE men and women died so that we could have that luxury. I for one will never forget or take my freedoms for granted. What happened on Saturday can not happen here. We are looked upon by others in the world as something to strive to, a place people want to try to be like, and for many out there simply knowing it exists makes the planet a better place. If America fails the world fails.

R or D. They mean nothing. There are 24 other letters. We need them all to spell TrapZisteianistan. Haha. Thought I forgot about them. Seriously though it takes everyone to make us the greatest country in the world. All colors, all sexes, all sexuality, all strengths, all personalities, born here, immigrated here, all incomes, and most importantly all abilities. We all play a role. That role can only be played with love. Hate and anger have no place. The moment anyone compares anyone to Hitler walk away. That conversation is over. There was only one Hitler and he was truly evil. Never fall for stupid arguments and don’t waste the energy. You are loved and welcome to vote however you want in America.

I’ve said this before “you can’t out hate someone.” You can only overcome hate with love and kindness. If someone hates you simply because of skin color, sexual preference, gender, or ______________ the best way to change that is to become the greatest person you can, one of character, substance, and love so they MUST respect you. That is how you change the world. I promise you don’t change anyone by an act of violence. Unless they earn a punch in the face for talking BS. I’m still okay with that.

Love yourself and each other.

Sacrifice

Justice for Ryan Cooper. I don’t understand why they haven’t found the person responsible for this insane evil act, but I’m still hopeful they will find the pricks.

The crazy part is I started this blog about four weeks ago.

I have a dozen blogs that are 80% complete. I just need to final edit them, but I get distracted and 4 days later whatever I was writing about becomes old news. A friend sent this article to me wondering if I would write about it. That answer is yes. I don’t know much for details, but this story is true, just happened, tragic, and yet romantic in a weird way. It shows the sacrifice one human is willing to make to ensure the safety of a stranger. I want to say this next point and regardless of your political position I hope you feel the same way. Those 13 service members should NOT have died in Afghanistan. It makes me sick that the incompetence of old people in power caused the needless death of those young military members.

Today I want to talk about Joaquin Romero. You’ve never heard of him. He worked at La Jolla Zip Zoom Zipline in North San Diego County. He was 34 years old and certainly didn’t expect to die as he got ready for work last Saturday. None of us do, but the truth is, at any point of everyday the clock could run out. Stop spending time on trivial BS. Stop hating people you don’t know and in fact stop hating anyone. It is ALL wasted energy. Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and any of the others don’t care that you hate them. They sleep just fine, but you allow them to live rent free in your mind. Someone please tell me how hating Donald Trump all day makes your life more enjoyable. I’ll wait.

Mr Romero was helping a young lady get hooked up on the zip line when she started slipping. He grabbed her harness in an attempt to steady her, but it was too late and they both went about 100 feet down the zip line. This man you’ve never met decided to let go. He knew the 70 foot fall was going to kill him, but he let go anyway. He knew the line would most likely not hold the weight of both of them and made the ultimate decision. This wasn’t like Hollywood where the actor gets back up, but real life where you have no extra lives.

This type of sacrifice blows the mind. I can’t imagine being faced with that decision in the blink of an eye. One moment thinking about how you’ll grab some beers after work, hopefully run into the cocktail waitress you have a crush on, and the next moment you are about to plunge to your end. In a few seconds you find yourself hanging 70 ft above the ground on a cable that can’t hold two people. You can’t call timeout, try again, scream you’re sorry for any past mistakes. Nope, you just let go and fall to your death.

It reminds me of soldiers that jump on a grenade in order to save his brothers next to him. Think he checks to see what color the other men are before making that final jump?? The picture is Kyle Carpenter. He literally jumped on a grenade. The least you can do is to remember his name and recognize people like this exist in real life. This is a debt none of us will ever be able to repay. You can’t even let someone go in front of you at the Walmart check out when they have 2 items and you have a full cart.

There are clearly great people in this world. All around us. You don’t know someones story or history. How many friends do you have?? How many of them know everything about you?? Do you know everything about them??? I’m going to say very few. You’re too busy to listen to someone else’s story. We get so wrapped up in BS that we forget what it is to simply be a good human. The young lady hanging on the zip line that a stranger killed himself to save, do you think she asked who he voted for in the last election???

I talk about Mr Romero and his selfless act. It is insane to think about. I wonder if he was vaccinated?? That is a joke. We have all these nurses, police, firemen and women, grocery store workers that were held up on this pedestal during the lockdown months. They got up and worked every day while others got paid extra money to not work. They didn’t get a bonus. Every couple of days some D-Bag politician would get on TV and talk about how much their sacrifice meant to the rest of us. Liars. They didn’t give a crap. Those same ”heroes” are now the enemy and being fired for not getting the vaccine. It makes me sick to think about.

You have to ask yourself one question. Do I have the strength to sacrifice myself for others?? It doesn’t have to be death. That is only good for one moment. Start small. Sacrifice your time. Listen to someone that doesn’t have anyone to talk to. Cook meals for homeless people on Thanksgiving. Be a foster parent to kids or dogs. Maybe both. Stop and pick up the litter you see. I watched a guy tonight walking his Golden Retriever that was munching on a plastic plant pot. I passed him with Annie, looked back at the street, and sure enough his dog dropped it and he kept on walking. I turned around and picked it up myself because I have character.

Sacrifice your money. Give to those in need. Pay for someones lunch. Do you know how great it feels to randomly pay for someones groceries that are obviously in need of a kind gesture. You got $70 to blow at the bar Friday and Saturday, but no money to help a struggling family??

Start small. Let a car merge in front of you on your way home. Talk to the elderly person two houses down like they are the only person in the world for an hour. Take your dog to a new park or on a walk instead of just opening the door and shoving your fur friend into the back yard. Buy a couple greeting cards and send them to old friends you haven’t talked to in years. Friendships are precious gifts so never take them for granted. In fact one could say ”Be thankful for the friendships you have”.

You have all the power to make your day and someone else’s wonderful. Use it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pick Your Lane (Mine has Pie)

I’ve been MIA for a couple weeks. I had to take a step back as the world of negativity was creeping into my life. Thank goodness all I have to do is turn the channel, not visit news websites, and simply let it go. Not always easy to do, but at the end of the day it is that simple. Once this COVID thing started being a ginormous pain in the butt I started to cook/bake things simply to see if I could do it. I love to challenge myself by doing things I’ve never done before. The first item was an apple pie from scratch. I love apple pie so it just made sense. I learned to make pie dough from scratch which is way easier than I thought it would be. Time consuming, but easy. Then I found a recipe online I liked and went after it. I did burn my mouth licking the whisk which I managed to record and then put on FB. Hey if you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re doing life completely wrong. I believe the link below will take you to Bucky burn land. You’re sick in the head if you want to see me in pain!! Haha

https://share.icloud.com/photos/0ngpkL8zNKAhKvZD5_cvVU4kw

Once I knew how to make pie dough I realized I can use it to make my own chicken pot pies. I bought the mini pie pans and boom this turned out super well also. I always chop up fresh veggies like carrots, onions, and celery to put in whatever I’m making. I have the time and it just makes everything taste better. Here I am now an Apple pie champ, mini pot pies in my freezer ready to go anytime, and I need a new project. A neighbor girl mentioned she likes cheesecake. Hmmm I like cheesecake too, so here we go. Find recipe…

My first attempt was blueberry cheesecake. When I was getting ready to put the mixture in the pie pan, I remembered my mini pans. Mini cheesecakes. Genius. I went this route. There is an overall point to this blog today and I’m about to get to it. I made blueberry, raspberry, and Oreo cookie cheesecakes now and once again they taste awesome. Somewhere along the way I wanted to learn how to make caramel as well which turned out to not be that hard. You need to stay focused and pay attention to it, but not difficult once you understand how sugar melts. Very similar to heroin if you are an intravenous drug user. I made that up. Just making sure you are still paying attention.

If you have read my blog before you know I encourage people to do random acts of kindness. It is something I strive to do every day of my life while never expecting anything in return. A kind word or a thank you is more than enough. Over the weekend I made blueberry & raspberry cheesecakes. An idea I had a while ago was to use the homemade caramel and put it on the bottom of the cheesecake so it will cook into the graham crackers making a caramel crust. It worked. I also put a ring of caramel around the top crust that would melt down the sides giving all the crust a caramel flavor. That worked also. They are stupid good.

I also make a chicken tortilla soup from scratch that is very popular with my friends and family. I made a ginormous batch of it over the weekend for a purpose. On Monday I was going to the VA Hospital for an eval with a Veteran. Eval just means we look at his challenges, lifestyle, and environment so we can get him the correct equipment for his life. I do this a lot with my work and I love it. Knowing I was going to be there on Monday I thought it would be cool to take a bunch of soup and cheesecakes for the staff. All that practice now had a purpose.

All those pots are filled with soup. The Copper one has tofu instead of chicken for my Vegan friends. No one asked me to do this. Certainly no one expected me to show up with a ton of homemade food. I just like to challenge myself making things that are on my list of favorite foods and then share them. So that is what I did. I did get some very kind messages back today which again make it all worth it.

Examples:

  1. OH MY!!!!  LOVED IT!!! I am not there today and I was thinking it would be worth it to go in so I can have some more of the soup!   It was absolutely wonderful- the flavor was magnifico! Thank you so much and the avocado was so good with it. Oh and yes the cheese cake – well that was just evil because I am really trying not to have sugar and sweets and I couldn’t resist it and that just blew that!  Thank you!
  2. Oh my Goodness!  I planned my response in my head, but I forgot to send it.  It was wonderful.  I mean simply wonderful-as in you have a gift!!!   Oh my God!

If you are not purposely working to send out good vibes on a daily basis then you are part of team negative. I’m by no means a perfect human. I’m very far from it, but I have learned in my 42 years that I feel better about myself the more positive things I do. Allowing myself get caught up with the negative BS that is on the news everyday, listening to people complain all day, and letting stress to dictate my mood make me feel like crap. So at this point in my life I can only think “Why in the ____ would I want to choose the feel like crap lane??? No thank you. I’m going to live my best life, keep doing random kind things, and actively work to make my world a better place which will by default make the entire world a better place.

What lane are you in??? What lane do you want to be in?? No blinkers needed, no jerk calling your Mom names, and most importantly no matter how long you’ve been in the wrong lane, the right one has unlimited space and you can go as fast as you want!!!!

Choose positive my friends and lets change the world one act of kindness at a time.

P.S. There in free pie and cheesecake in the Bucky lane. Just stop on by anytime!!

Poop Bag Character

I am a student of life. I’m amazed at the behavior of people and wonder about how they can be so lazy when it comes to thinking of others above themselves. I witness dozens of interactions every week that could go so much better if people simply took a moment to see how they can make the world better with a simple action. I do my best to think about other people and actively look to find a way I can do something for them making the world a tiny bit better. You don’t have to be Oprah and give everyone a free car to do something life changing for a stranger.

The other day I took Annabel out for a long walk. I usually take about 5 poop bags with me. Trust me this puppy is healthy and like her human Dad completely full of shit. Ha. Figured I’d get a ahead of that one. No softballs here buddy. I don’t usually need that many, but I would rather have extra than not enough. Old lessons from living on the farm. Always take an extra one or two because the one time you need them, you’re going to be real glad you did. I usually bag up the Annie treasures and then leave them on a corner or place I know I’m coming back to. No need to carry a poop bag around. On the way home after doing our laps thru the neighborhood I can grab all the bags and put them into the trash can.

The trash can is a dog poop station if you will. A pole with a trash can and the top of it has poop bags for people that don’t bring one with them. I always take them with me from my home and refill at the drop off, but hey I’m smart. So this particular day I made my deposit and noticed there were no more bags for other people. Not my problem right?? I turned and started rolling away, but that voice in my head said “You can do better Bucky.” The voice was right and I could do better. I had two unused bags in my pocket. I turned around and put those two bags in the empty box so that the next two people would have a bag. I was able to help two random people, but more importantly I was able to help keep my environment clean of dog poop.

It took almost no effort from me, no one would know what I did (until I share it here), and it helped someone else be a responsible person and pick up after their dog. I share because it really is that easy to be a good person. I hope that you go out and actively LOOK for places to make a positive difference in your neighborhood. People see you doing good things and it is contagious. I need no praise or someone to say good job, but what does make me feel proud is when others follow my lead. That means I’m doing my job as a human. This reminds me of a time I was dropping the nephews off at the airport.

We were checking in at the main area when some how the box of luggage tags got knocked over and spilled everywhere. I didn’t do it so it wasn’t my problem. I mean they have people that work there so I could just ignore it and go on with my life. Who cares if the line is super long and the guy behind the counter is doing all he can to move people thru faster. Now he has to pick up all these luggage tags while I watch. We both know that isn’t what happened. Actually my nephew set his bag down and started to pick them all up. Organizing them to go back into the box like they were supposed to and I could not have been prouder of that kid. Without prompting he simply did what was right and kind. Remember someone is always watching what actions you take. I hope you set a good example.

I have another person I used to know back in my snowboarding days that told me a story about how he found a wallet while out walking with his daughter. He bragged to me that it had a couple hundred dollars in it which he kept and then threw the wallet into a trash can. He justified his actions by saying the guy gave him a dirty look while he parked his car. I have no idea why this individual thought I would be impressed by his crap story. It makes me sad because this young lady is learning wrong and her Dad is a D-Bag thief. He had such an opportunity to show his daughter how to be the bigger person (if you believe dirty look story, which I do not), how to do the right thing, and let her experience the feeling a person gets when they do the right thing. If you don’t feel shame when keeping the wallet that makes me even sadder.

So don’t sit back and wait for this perfect moment to do something kind. Look for those moments. Seek them out, experience the feeling you get when doing something kind, and become addicted to that feeling. Trust me you are not that busy, you are not that important, and you are robbing yourself every day you put off doing the random acts of kindness. Like just about everything it isn’t only about you. By being lazy you are most likely robbing someone that looks up to you the lesson of being kind simply because it makes you a better person, a person of integrity, and a person of good character. Don’t rob kids of that lesson.

Do kind things. It really is that simple.

Secret to Life.

Want to know the secret to life?? Make life fun for the people around you. Mess with people. You don’t have to be vicious or mean, but mess with their head a little bit. The first and most important step is to learn how to laugh at yourself. This is also a skill. Stop taking the “life” thing so seriously. No one gets out alive. You only get so much time. Here is the deal if you make an effort to make people in your inner circle feel good about themselves and laugh, your life improves. Now ready for the real mind blowing simplistic fact?? Imagine if everyone did that. If everyone on planet Earth could stop thinking about themselves and scheming on how to get more for ME the whole world could change overnight.

In the military the soldiers don’t fight for freedom back home, or for the right for some jerk to be able to burn the American flag, but for their brothers next to them. They put it all on the line for the guy/gal on their left and right. Freedom and flag burning jackhole are the results of this brotherhood and trust between those on the battlefield. When the bullets start flying they fight to keep the ones next to them safe and understand that those 2 people are doing the exact same thing. Together they are stronger and do not bend.

We don’t have any bullets flying at us or it doesn’t happen to often anyway, but we do have sour puss people in our lives that simply want to drag you and anyone else around them down into the poor me level. Don’t give in. It sucks down there. Say enjoy your trip into crybaby land, throw up some deuces, and be like peace out. Then avoid that crappy person for the rest of your life. Don’t worry they will find some other sucker to listen to the constant bitching, and together they can wallow around in the “world is too hard” mud together.

The world isn’t hard, you’re just a human that gets exactly what you deserve. You think negative, creating a basket full of crap thoughts, and then throw your negative seeds everywhere you go. Sooner or later that first negative seed starts to grow. And then another grows. And another. Pretty soon you have created a big fat negative forest that you live in. Of course you cry to anyone that will listen about how did this happen?? You freaking created it. That is what happened. You wanted the poor me sympathy from anyone who would willingly give it to you and then you just kept going. There is no one to blame but yourself and I’ll believe that until I’m killed by a gang of Chinese hookers at the age of 56 while out for a morning jog. Never ask a witch in the forest how you die. Lesson learned here the hard way.

Learn to smile. Learn to look at setbacks as learning opportunities. Learn to embrace others in your life warmly and leave your BS at the door. They don’t want to hear it. We all have stuff to deal with. You’re not special. I will gladly help anyone that needs it when I’m in a position to do so. You can ask anyone that knows me personally I am one of the first people call because they know I will help if possible and that I won’t hold back if I feel they need a kick in the ass. Don’t ask to borrow money. Chinese friends are expensive so I have no extra cash. The reason nobody likes you is because you don’t like yourself. It is sad and I wish it wasn’t the truth for so many, but when you have all this negative energy spewing out of you it is impossible to be happy alone because you suck.

So fix it and stop complaining about how you never catch a break all the time. The breaks are there. They always are, but when you are hell bent on crying about “poor me” those opportunities roll right on by to the next person ready to take advantage of them. Good things happening don’t come with a flashing light and hundred dollar bills raining from the sky which is what your lazy whining butt wants. No. They come in the shape of hard work, waking up everyday and getting after it, and believing in yourself. I can think of a dozen people I would like to tattoo this message on their chest, but I don’t waste my time anymore. If you aren’t willing to fix yourself, I’m not giving my energy to you. Nope, I say hello politely and then move on because my life is short and I’m going to take advantage of every opportunity I can identify. Wasting anytime in the crybaby mud hole isn’t for me.

So get after it. Smile A LOT. Help others. Go out of your way to help those that appreciate it, but always expect nothing in return. Expecting nothing means you can feel good about your deed and not have the let down thoughts like “I was sure person X would go on Facebook and tell everyone how great I am for helping.” If this is what you want stay home. You don’t get it. Simply put be happy you’re a good person inside and let that be enough because in the grand scheme of things this is the ONLY thing that truly matters.

Be kind to others and remember random acts of kindness make you a better person.
